Manchester United would be willing to listen to offers of more than £80m for England striker Marcus Rashford, 26, this summer. (Sun)

Nice one. Makes sense with all the absences

He’s staying at Utd then as no one in their right mind would pay that sort of money for Rashford.

Declan Rice was second in the FWA vote. Ollie Watkins and Cole Palmer were also in the top 6.

Rashford needs a loan with a fee at the end

no one’s paying that for him and his wages are massive

if he actually tried he could be a great player

Dier has played well at Bayern and is worth a squad slot IMO .
But I have a feeling he wont be picked .

Dunk surely played himself out the squad last game so i'd imagine it'll be between Konsa and Dier for a final spot (assuming Guehi is actually fully fit)

An article written by someone who clearly hasn't watched Bellingham at all for Real Madrid. He says that Bellingham is now played deeper by Ancelloti and so Southgate should play him deeper too.....except the "change" Madrid have made in some games is to play him like England do, as the most advanced central midfielder - though he's still usually more attacking than he is for England. Earlier in the season he was even more attacking.

At no point for Madrid has he played deeper. I don't think he especially played well there for England previously either, there's a reason the midfield set up was re-jigged after the USA game in the world cup. Playing deeper doesn't play to his strengths.

But then I guess there's no point in even analysing someones article when their back 4 has 3 right backs in it...

It is a bizarre squad to play Walker, Trent ans Trippier but not have a back five.

Always worth remembering that most football journalists, especially those in the English press, are gossip merchants who rely on connections within the game rather than being experts on football.

This one is no expert on Jude Bellingham, that's for sure. Why, when you've finally got a player who can lay claim to being the best AM in world football, would you clip his wings and relegate him to a supportive role? Who knows, there might come a time post-Harry Kane where England look to push Jude even further forward into a false nine position, but don't do the absolute opposite and take away one of our biggest attacking assets.

Mengi, Burke, Barkley, Doughty, Morris and Adebayo start for Luton. Berry, Clark, Townsend, Shea, Woodrow and Johnson are on the bench.
Pickford, Tarkowski, Young, Godfrey, Branthwaite, McNeil, Harrison, Garner and Calvert - Lewin start for Everton. Dobbin and Keane are on the bench.

Right just to say, buying a lot of mercenaries, foreign players... whichever you call them, and managers... is an issue.

Playing against teams from the same nation, have a togetherness and aren't pampered, can save themselves for the big european games...and probably find communication easier. It's easier to fight for one another. That's not nice, but it's real.

It's literally like the top 14. The french top 14 in rugby buys the worlds best talent. It IS comfortably the best league, but the grind, the wear and tear means they tend to be pretty poor frankly in europe.

Olympicos had fewer Greek players feature yesterday than Villa did English, and also had a foreign coach. They have always been a decent team in Europe, I can attest to that having watched Spurs play them multiple times, don’t think you need to search for alternate reasoning.

Fair enough, but it's frustrating to see just how much we underachieve both on the continent and on the international stage.

We often take their best players to play for us, but they still tend to get the result... so something else is happening.

    I dunno it's just annoying.

Branthwaite saves Everton at the end with a clearance from a goalbound shot .
Will he make it into the Euro squad and become the first ever Martin Clunes lookalike to play for England?

I can’t see him going to the Euros but he might be a discarded centre back in the extended provisional squad as cover becuase Stones and Maguire are late arrivals. However I would be perfectly happy if he does go to the Euros.

Everton hope to persuade Jarrad Branthwaite, 21, to stay at Goodison Park for one more year but Manchester United are confident a bid of £60-70m for the English centre-back would be accepted. (Football Insider)
