Assuming Bove even wants to stay with us. At the end of the day we are a EL club level club at the moment, and the only people who get overpaid on those, are the driftwood.
It was reported during the euros Pellegrini rejected Al Nassr. The bastard 6 years of Pellegrini and Cristante in the "engine room" and they wonder why the club cant move forward. Bove may never be an incredible player but he could be the Roma equivalent of a Ambrosini type player. A solid pro for club and country. If there was ever a time to restart with a whole new strategy it was DDR, year 1. Now with the Everton purchase and potential sales like this, it could be the same old Roma shooting themselves in the foot offering up the talented youngsters.
I think we can take that assumption for a guarantee if he was getting the playing time. The club should be prioritising players like him as key assets over the next 5 years and not offering them up for sale for okish money. DDR said he wants hungry players who think its the best thing to ever happen to them getting to play for Roma. Its Bove's home but he's been pushed to the side. Its just incoherent to the ideals they have talked about.
I'm in the minority but I don't think Bove is that good. The kid shows heart and has a great workrate but I don't see a ton of technical skill or defensive prowess. The lack of consistent playing time certainly doesn't help. I'd love for him to stay as I appreciate his effort but I don't think its a huge loss if he is sold. Unrelated note: I wasn't sold on Chiesa coming initially and the "reports" the last few days only reinforces that. If he decides to join Roma, great I'll cheer him on, if not I won't lose sleep over it.
See my 2nd reply, I dont think he is spectacular either but then, he doesn't have to be. He is the type of player to give you a solid 7 most weeks and they are needed for the squad. He is a hard worker, he is keen to impress and its his boy hood club. He sort of fits in between Cristante and Pellegrini with the heart v technique. If you're looking to build a long term squad with a bit of depth to it then you want players like this in it. Roma should have another 11 for the squad they have given away over the last few years. Ok we get a bit of money for this one but he will give you better value over the years in his performances.
The way I see it all the Bove is leaving speculation started well before Ghisolfi even joined the club and I've not seen anything concrete about him leaving (from any reputable sources anyway) so I can't see him going, especially given the way DDR speaks of our squandered youth prospects Right now our midfield is just Pelle, Cristante, Paredes, Le Fee & Bove ( plus Darboe? Pisilli?). If we're playing 3 in midfield we will need all of them. It seems more like Aouar is his way out... Plus now they've already invested in Le Fee the fact is we still need to buy two fullbacks, a winger and a striker so I feel like priority will now shift to those positions. With Chiesa I think it'll take patience, we've been through it before with Dybala where at the time there was a lot of speculation that he wouldn't accept less than Champions League football and the rest is history... Hopefully Bayern or Napoli or whoever don't fight too hard for him (I find the Napoli links a bit hard to believe given Kvara and Osimhen seem set to stay, they rarely buy big without selling first)
Unfortunately there’s very little value in this team, and Bove is one of the few that can bring in any money. I said it last summer, ultimately it will be Bove, Zalewski, Volpato and all the kids that would be sacrificed. No one outside of the Saudi’s are going to buy Karsdorp or Cristante or Pellegrini. Roma are going to be stuck with most of this squad until their contracts expire. Still a terrible decision to sell Bove and how DDR has handled him has been a head scratcher.

I can't get excited for him. At this point 80-90% of our transfers turning out to be bums, I'll just wait to see who impresses in the season and then, eventually, potentially,, get excited about a new signing, regardless how big the name is.
I think he looks decent. I like that he is quick to play the ball over the top, and perhaps he can even break the line through dribbling. One of Pelle or Cristante is going on the bench for him. Paredes, I see a rumor about a max offer from Saudi. If he goes you must get Prati in ASAP and perhaps someone to help guide him too.
Argentine journalist who dropped the Dybala news says we’re close to signing Soule… Aouar is off to Saudi for 15 million, Karsdorp is close to Besiktas and apparently we will sign a young Swedish left back
only thing with Soule (maybe I’m wrong about this) but isn’t he a left footed winger? I wonder where he fits in with Baldanzi and Dybala
that makes sense, then we have balda/Soule for the right and el sha/??? for the left wing they seem to be targeting that Georgian striker at the moment along with Sortloth who would let us change the plan if false 9 isn’t working
Sorloth is coming off a great season with Villareal, he was only one goal away from being the top scorer of La Liga. And he's in his prime years for a striker, so that could potentially be a really good deal. Completely agree that Soule would be a way better deal than Chiesa, I hope it happens.
Sorloth is very interesting. Not a big flashy name, but I read something that said La Liga defenses have changed in the last several years and play with a much lower block. That's a lot of goals, and right now we got nothin. 28, I mean he still has a lot of good years ahead of him.
Bove was one of the few talents that Jose managed to valourize in his time at Roma. I think he can be better but he needs to play more. DDR is said to not rate him and really wants to bring in Prati from Cagliari. Roma’s valuation for Bove at 20 million is a little crazy. Something between 10–12 and he’ll be sold without any issues
With the donkeys and mules that go on to sell for 40-50mil these days, 20mil is actually quite low. We'd be hard-pressed to replace his overall contribution with less than 30-35mil spend in my opinion.
Khephren Thuram just went for 20. Brescianini who is about to close with Atalanta is going for 10-12. A player with a similar profile to Bove but wanted by more teams. I understand the desire to make plusvalenza, but there is little market for Bove at 20 million inside Serie A. Unless you sell to an English club where they can afford to burn money. But that would potentially doom the player. Also another thing, the idea that you need to spend in the realm of 30-35 million to replace Bove is so delusional. At those figures you’re going to pick up another Renato Sanches of the situation. Roma fans need to learn how to accept players like Prati that you pick up for 10-15 and in 2-3 years is worth 3x more.
