I'm not sure exactly where to put this but here goes: I kind of think Claudio Lotito is a sort of a clown and don't really care for him or Lazio personally but you know, in this instance about not wanting low level or poor teams in the top tier, he is spot on. He is saying if both Forsinone and Carpi (and their 9600 & 4000 seat stadiums, respectively) make into into the Serie A, it could prove fatal to the league. I'm all for the underdog overcoming insurmountable obstacles and beating top flight teams and when Novara beat Inter (3 years ago) it was kind of cool in some ways. That seemed like yesterday though and now that same team is militating in the Serie C/Lega Pro. Everybody keeps complaining about the low quality/level of the Serie A and how far away we are in regards to the rest of the world (although I don't agree with that assessment too much), yet we keep getting these one hit wonders year in and year out who come up and down. Not sure how great that is for the sport. The same thing goes for the Serie B and their playoff system. Whats the point of going coming in 3rd or 4th if you have 3rd thru 8th place teams go to a playoff round? Its not not like the top 3/4 teams get promoted right away so even though its just my opinion, I just don't see how any of this benefits the Serie A as a rule. It may benefit them but its not that great. If Carpi or Frosinone make it beyond 1-2 years in Serie A, it will be a miracle. I also don't think they have the money or stadia to qualify to even play in Serie A, regardless if they get promoted or not.
everyone thought the same about Sassualo and now look at them....A team like Avellino manged to stay in Serie A back when Serie A was at it's strongest and lets not forget Foggia..........
Yeah well at least Sassuolo has a stadium capacity 20,000 not 9k or 4k. Foggia also had a 25k & Avellino a 26k seat stadium but neither team has been back in the Serie A since they were both relegated 20 and 25 years ago and there has to be a reason behind it.
Sassualo was playing in a small stadium during their time in Serie B then they took over their current stadium. Other teams have been poorly manged Avellino is making strong gains.
Rudi Garcia is still whining about the Juve-Roma game. What are his excuses about drawing all these games to crap teams?
Yes, he brought it up again today. ********ing loser with a loser mentality. Roma will win nothing with him. Not that they win anything anyways.
Ok but again, that was long time ago and haven't been back to the top tier since 1988. I certainly can't find the stats but looking at the stadium, they still had at least a 20k capacity back then. This place looked packed!
its not like those teams will be in serie A forever, i have shared this view too in the past which is why i wanted bologna, verona, torino etc to get into serie A when they were not in it, however with lotito we need to worry if he tries anything underhand to make sure they fail in their attempts to get promoted, we're talking about a guy who's club were docked 8 points for match fixing, the guy should not have a voice, and lol at him for taking credit for everything
Another reason on why certain teams should or shouldn't be let in. I know what he is getting at but does he really have the power to keep out anyone or was he just making a suggestion? Who exactly is the one who decides on which team will play in Serie A or who won't? I don't believe Lotito could keep out anyone really. If anything, all he can do is talk. You still need financial backing to make the league just like Parma couldn't come up with funds to play in UEFA.
ciucc i have some disheartning news as a napoli fan dont know about you but i cant wait for our new blue seats, what an expeirence it will be for our fans, all hail ADL. what would you prefer to watch on tv, the san siro when inter are playing, or this
maybe he can ensure a certain reff gets a certain game, who knows. it was only 2 weeks ago he said we should stop having a go at reffs and we're all stupid, now he's crying about them, these guys are all in bed together.
He's right...having teams like this does nothing for the league financially and it won't help Serie A compete with EPL. We need as many big teams with big stadiums and big fanbases as possible but that's what you get with relegation and promotion. If they earned it there is nothing you can do about it. I agree with him completely though. We need big market teams in Serie A, not village teams.
