I always liked their sense of humor when there were so many Uber serious punk acts that have aged far, far worse.
I went back and listened and heard DM all over it before I came back and saw that this guy was a founder. The quirky stuff like the guitar in the intro to Enjoy The Silence is what I really like about them. I've once said that if a band makes two hits I like, they're okay with me forever. Their two hits are Enjoy the Silence and It Doesn't Matter* *There was this girl I knew back in undergrad school that I liked, but could not grasp why she didn't like me quite the same way. I mean, it wasn't like I felt she should fall at my feet or anything- she just seemed uninterested in anyone. Her own GF said she was weird but not gay and didn't want to elaborate. I went back to the car and fixed the mixtape cassette one time we went somewhere (on one of those times she really had only about an hour or so to spare) so that it would finish playing the song before. It Doesn't Matter started playing about half the way back to her house. It wasn't anything blatant, the song just came on while I was talking to her about something or another. But she's a big film person and the first verse was soundtrack perfection for me telling her I'd had a great time and driving off while she stood there waiting for me to ask when to call her again. She called me back a week or so later. I'm convinced that song gave me half a chance. It wasn't worth the trouble. She's still nice. But to this day, I'm the only person, male or female, that I know has gone out with her.
Yeah I was a big fan BITD. The song is about Jimmy Sharman who had a touring troupe of boxers in Australia and the aboriginal boxers were exploited. More about the Sharmans. https://www.smh.com.au/national/jim...-boxing-tents-dies-at-94-20060426-gdnfgv.html
According to science, metal is the most “intelligent” genre of music you can listen to - and these are its most intelligent bands. https://www.loudersound.com/news/a-...ho-are-the-most-intelligent-heavy-metal-bands
Monte Pittman has played guitar on tour with Madonna and Uncle Al “I planned to go out with Ministry. But then Madonna said, ‘I want Monte here – even if he’s just standing and holding a guitar’”: Monte Pittman on his crazy journey from Guitar Center to Ministry via Prong and Madonna – and his band with Adam Lambert https://www.guitarworld.com/artists...itar-center-to-ministry-via-madonna-and-prong
"Lexical diversity?" Thats the standard? Black Sabbath knows more words than Keith Reid or Robert Hunter or John Lennon???
Headlines say "encouraged more intelligence and positivity..." WTF? Does someone out there think there's something to be positive about? Whoever did this either knows no POCs or doesn't care about us...
They... sound like metal. I don't have the experience to call them good or bad. The playing is kinda generic.
Brain Fart. For some reason Hold Steady computed to “The Heavy.” I need sleep. I’m getting some serious anxiety.
"This is koo koo, baby. I specifically axed for the sodas to be 75% diet. Get it right, pal, or we ain't playin, capeesh?"
What a weird study. As if wordiness automatically equates to intelligence. I wonder if they included any Bad Religion, who often sounded like they wrote lyrics with a thesaurus in hand.
