As for Rossi and Zelarayan…my memory is that Rossi was supposed to be a non like for like replacement for Zelarayan. Was it actually the case that the Crew could have had their current group plus him?

The 3rd highest paid player on the Crew is Nagbe. If he were with Miami, he’d also be their 3rd highest paid player. Now, I looked for the #3 salaries because teams can have 3 DPs and I’ll just go ahead and say when you look at the PDF of player salaries, that’s a cherry picked stat, albeit unintentionally so. Miami has two players on 7 figure salaries that are less than Nagbe.

So much fuss about MLS which is essentially a “retirement” league.

Beckham went from the Galaxy to PSG.

That said, I took M's comment as sarcasm.

    You really believe that?

It was about the way the Crew classified their call-ups and the number allowed. The interesting part is how the rules changed after Miami won the shield and Columbus was no longer a threat.

    Total CalvinBall.

    Your memory is wrong.

Crew tried to pay down Nagbe's salary with Garber Bux but had their request denied. Lucas didn't want to leave and Bez tried to keep him.

The rest of what you posted is irrelevant.

Yeah, I don't follow MLS close enough to know the details, but certainly at the macro level the league seems to be run a lot like the Saudi league. i.e. those that run the league decide which team(s) certain players can go to.

    Oh, that’s crazy talk! C’mon.

MLS didn’t say Messi had to play for Miami. They asked Messi where he would want to be if he came to MLS. If he had chosen LA or NY or anywhere else, that is where he would be, NOT where MLS told him to go.

plus, Busquets, Alba, Suarez and Tata Martino would not have come to MLS (Tata came back) without Messi.

The league is a single entity. So, largely, yes.

Don Garber runs the league like a dictator. We will all be much better off when he is no longer commissioner.

If Beckham and the Mas brothers wanted to bring in Messi and the Barca rejects, I have no problem with it as long as the league isn't subsidizing their salaries, which they absolutely are.

It's not a fair playing field, and it was set up that way intentionally by Garber.

Every time my soccer snob son says baseball players are terrible athletes I assure him that’s not true.

Then I see shit like this.

Yes, I do, and if I’m wrong, well, there’s the Matuidi precedent.

Will you still think that way when Neymar signs for a fraction of his worth, too?

I have no idea what a Matuidi precedent is.

So everybody at Madrid is going crazy because they didn't win the balon d'or. They got four of the top six spots for Madrid players, but they boycott the ceremony because somehow the world is so unfair against them.

I am good with the decision. You can make a great argument for Vinicius Jr, but it's not like Rodri doesn't have a great argument as well, and it's about time somebody playing in the EPL gets the recognition.

Aaaand we have the conservative side ot football. Sad.

What's funny is, might have been Islam that kept continental Europe from dining solely on haggis and fish/chips.

Wondering how Ted Bundy or Steve Bannon or Ed Gein would be portrayed by this person? No camels in either of their backyards..
