Musk is already the richest person on the planet. If Tesla stock goes down, he will still be the richest person on the planet. If Tesla goes out of business, he will probably still be the richest person on the planet. The continued existence of EV tax credits won't change his net worth very much.

This next part is based on speculation from my wife, who, unlike anyone on this thread, has been in the same room as Elon when she worked at Tesla, so you can take it under advisement as to whether you believe it or not. Elon isn't really driven by his net worth - he has enough money to do whatever he wants for the rest of his life. His focus remains on "saving" "humanity" (for various definitions of those two words - for example, he's not a big fan of trans people since his daughter came out as trans, so he doesn't really include them in "humanity"). He sees climate change as a problem - he sees EVs as something that can help fight climate change - but whether the EVs are built by Tesla or built in China doesn't really matter to him. He got the ball rolling through Tesla but it's being picked up now by BYD and he's OK with that.

Only thing is, it sounds like he put his anti-woke crusade above his concern for climate change.

    And that's surprising because?

Remember, gays get the bottom rung of the 7th level of Hell - there's only 9 levels. We're further into Hell than murderers. We go against "nature" after all.

Elon Musk and “saving humanity “ don’t seem to match though ….

Surprisingly, he has a TON of fanbois who say that's exactly what he's all about.

Of course, most of them think moving to Mars is actually doable, but they do exist.

It's doable but it is doable like building a settlement at the bottom of the Marianas Trench.

No. Building a settlement at the bottom of the Marianas Trench would be vastly easier.

Right now we can actually lift tons beyond LEO. I'm pretty sure nothing has been built that can withstand the the pressure of the trench bigger than holding 2 men.

Colonizing Antarctica--as in, building a self-sufficient colony of thousands of permanent residents--would be vastly easier as well.

Have we (humanity) also spent $trillions$ over decades creating an aspirational industry and higher Ed institutions to create an underwater settlement?

What % of Elon’s wealth is diversified assets vs stock on Tesla space x and Twitter? I honestly don’t know. And again…as I said earlier…Elon thinks he bought Trump. He didn’t. He’s owned by Trump. Piss him off…or fall out…and Trump calls Matty Fivehead and tells him to have DoJ seize space X and Tesla for national security reasons. What’s musk gonna do? Sue? Look at the SCOTUS scoreboard. The oligarchs elected the head oligarch. A stupid version of Putin. A mob boss. Who owns all three branches of government.

Nah. Die slowly, Mr. Uncommitted. And take your children with you.

No, no, let them do the job Trump wants them to do.
If these rumbling Senators didn't want to be conservative, they shouldn't have been part of a conservative party.

You have to wonder what that job is. Because these kind of appointments, three completely unqualified individuals, but completely loyal and with skeletons in their closet, at the head of Defense, Justice and Intelligence Departments are exactly the kind of appointments you want to make if you are planning a coup down the road (again).

I supported uncommitted organising. That is the smart thing to do.

However voting for Mango as a political movement can't be explained away as distraught individuals making a bad decision.

The right seem to better understand that the time for power struggles and your seat at the table is when you win. In my lifetime, the activist left is plagued with power struggles around losing. The supposed greens are the masters at this. Sabotage Biden who did more for climate that any political leader ever and replace him with a guy who will vandalise all that work that millions of people organised to achieve.

    Such genius. Such winning.

Are the Greens in the US a serious party? All I ever seem to see is Jill Stein popping up for every presidential election then going back into hibernation.
In the UK, they've worked on building a significant base at a local level and that's now starting to translate into national seats.

Within the Dems they are - that is how you got the IRA - an unprecedented effort to refocus the US climate agenda, translate it into legislation and rally the whole tent behind it.

Jill Stein is a russian asset (literally) and grifter who fools a bunch of idiots that both parties are the same. It's insanity.

Also I get that we are in the LOL nothing matters phase of democratic collapse but a fair amount of the narrative does ignore the fact that Biden is not the PM of Israel, nor CIC of the IDF and that the Biden admin has repeatedly sought a ceasefire. Do i wish the west and other countries had a different policy on supplying arms? yes. But the reason Bibi - the person actually running things - campaigned for Trump is because he thinks he'll get the freehand Biden has not been giving him.

if, as an organised political movement, you can't grasp basics, then you get what is coming to you IMO

Ok, so the genuine (small g) greens tend to see themselves aligning to the Dems to have an option at power, and Stein is just using the name to stand out?

In the US the so-called greens are often astroturfed by the republicans

Real climate and environment people are dems.
