Not giving Mbappe a call even on extraordinarily physical challenges is one way to approach things, I suppose.

Basically, his approach is not to give France any 50/50 calls unless it's reckless, but it seems like anything close where Morocco can be disposed and lead to a France counter is given.

I mean, this went from fine/acceptable to pretty terrible in about 5 minutes or so. Seems like Ramos is of the opinion that if a player gets the ball before getting Mbappe, all is fine. That's not going to have a good outcome.

    Doesn't seem very consistent.

The delayed offside calls when the player is off by yards is really getting old.

Since I spent all of my career in media, I can say this with certainty. Fox has gone at this from a third world country basis. That is take the world feed and don’t supplement it at all. In the past, ESPN would add cameras and replay capabilities and produce their own broadcast, but this is the cheap way out. Plus, we have John Strong.

It's very defensive refereeing, isn't it? I wonder what it will take to get a penalty or really dangerous attacking free kick.

Can we talk about the defender about 50 yards out who came sliding through with complete recklessness and might have broken Mbappé if he'd gotten there in time?

I mention this because the Moroccans are going to be getting increasingly desperate and I'm not sure Ramos is prepared to deal with it.

To add on to what MassRef said, looking at this camera angle (from directly behind the goal line from this challenge) emphasizes side-to-side (parallel to the halfway line) movement while almost entirely hiding forward-backward movement (parallel to the touchlines). This makes it look like the defender is the one going into the attacker, when in fact it was the opposite.

Incredibly defensive refereeing. He won't give France anything.

Love watching the Moroccan push Giroud off the pitch not once but twice right in front of AR2.

Wow. Sure. I guess that’s just a little foul on the touch line.

Thuram is proving to be the ace foul-drawer all of a sudden.

70' - Honestly, can we just go back to "raise the flag at the time of infraction and let the CR decide when/if to stop play"?
