LAFC players (Bouanga, Ilie, and one more) surround the center ref when he blows the whistle for halftime just as Bouanga looks prepared to take a shot after a cleared corner kick that occurred after the 3 allotted minutes of stoppage time had been played. Funny thing is that in that scene, I noticed the female linesman for the first time, standing next to the center ref. I chuckled a bit because I recognized her from when we met and chatted at Frigate Bay, St. Kitts in late October last year at the Marriott hotel, when she was with her entire refereeing crew. She was there to ref matches between St Kitts & Nevis women's team and the Haitian women's team (I can't remember now if it was an age group squad or the full squad). Nice lady, that ref.
"...literally parachuting in to try and get a result." Uh, no. Not unless there was an actual parachute.
I missed that one because I had it muted since I would rather get a surprise, involuntary colonoscopy every single day than listen to Lianne Sanderson try to speak the English language. KC is a blast to watch.
I had to think about what today's date was. I started to think "Is it 4/20 today?" when I saw Martinez score for LAFC and immediately celebrate with the faux smoking of a joint! 1-2 LA.
Oh my. That is a nice free kick goal from Mihailovic, but the keeper cocked that one up. He is standing on the side of the kick, yet never moved. Yikes. 2-2
My youngest daughter is a budtender so we are well aware of when 4/20 is these days. I turned this game on right as Djordje took that shot. Timing! And now a red card.
This could be the kind of game that serves as a seminal moment for the Rapids. Can they build on this success? The way they played today, it seems unlikely they will be anywhere near the kitchen that holds the dreaded Wooden Spoon. Fun game though. L.A. didn't roll over and die after Mihailovic's second goal, so credit to them for that.
