We need to mix our team especially for an easy opponent. We set ourselves up by getting a lot of goals and then resting our best for Uruguay/Brazil while getting other players to be properly implemented.

I would say let's start with a mixed team and by the time we are clearly leading we can then sub out the recurrent starters and end the game with a full b team.

Why? well I dont wanna see our players getting ugly fouls from Panama as they normally do.

But as much as I'd like to protect and rest some players due to the very intensive weeks they've been having, I dont see Lorenzo taking such a risk.

There will be and there shouldn’t be any indication of not taking the rival seriously. The A team will play as they should in a KNOCKOUT game

    ------------------Vargas
    Munoz - Sanchez - Lucumí - Mujica
    ------------------Castano
    Rios ---------------------------Carrascal
    -------------------JFQ
    Duran-------------------------Sinisterra

thats the team that played more or less the second half against USA a couple of weeks ago, does that lineup look like we dont respect Panama?
    dont think so

This is Panama's World Cup Final. They will try their best to punch and kick and claw their way into some sort of result during regulation or Penalties.

We have to play smart and not lose our cool. Sort of like the Costa Rica match but even more so cause these guys will hack everyone.

All that said, we have quality and speed that Panama just cannot contain for 90 minutes so we should win by a bunch of goals in the end.

I am going on vacation to the Gulf Coast for the next couple weeks.
Won't be posting much. Hopefully the next time I post we will be talking about Miami and we will be discussing strategies to beat Argentina.

    My questions for Saturday:

    1. Castano/Rios or Uribe/Rios
    2. Mojica or Machado
    3. Stick with Córdoba as the #9
    4. How is Lucumi?
    5. Sini/Duran/Carrascal/Yasser have seen minimal action this Copa - when do we unleash them?

    imo
    1. Castano/Rios
    2. Machado
    3. Stick he's earned it
    4. If lucumi fit he should start, if its a risk rest him
    5. These guys should have gotten more minutes in the first 2 games, hopefully we can utilize them early tomorrow but unlikely any of them start.

Agree with all of these though I could see Sini starting to get Lucho rest for the semi.

I would love for Yaser and JJD to get more minutes in this next game.

Lorenzo is most likely going to start the same team against Brazil minus Machado and Uribe instead of Lerma.

We cant give anyone rest without winning the game first imo. i do think and hope that Borja gets his chance Borre is simply not fit and we are wasting space with him rn

I know we had 3 extra spots on the roster for Copa America but Uribe and Borre are waste of spaces worst of all he actually playing them !!!

In a game where the team was performing exceptionally well, the coach had the option to bring in players like Sini, Duran, Quintero, and Yaser to finish it off. Instead, he chose to substitute in Mojica, Borré, carrascal and Uribe. Just imagine if this were the final

Mojica came in for Machado who had a yellow card and was struggling
Borre came in to help press and defend
Carrascal is often the replacement for James
Uribe always comes in when James leaves as the leader on the field (this one I’ll give you, he should not be it)

colombia only needed the draw so he went with the players that best allowed him to do so without going fully defensive

The Mojica substitution made sense, but the rest were poor decisions in my opinion. Castaño should have been brought in; putting in Uribe and Borré is suicidal. With Uribe and Borré on the field, it always feels like we're playing with one or two fewer players. They shouldn't have been called up in the first place, so better options were available as substitutes.

Unfortunately, the only way for Lorenzo to learn is the hard way, like previous coaches. I predict that if we end up getting knocked out (knock on wood that it doesn't happen), it will be due to mistakes made by Borre, Matheus or mojica.

Mojica hasn't been that bad and Machado hasn't been any better. LBs what happened with the 2 from Nacional from the Olympic team. 1 of them did great on the SNT in a friendly. Never heard of him again Velasquez

Issue is who other than Uribe do you call up? I feel he called way way too many #10s in James, Carrascal, Yaser and Quintero. 4 when he called 2 DM and 2 CMs . Fine Yaser and Carrascal can technically play on the wings as a sub for Diaz or Arias but he too way too many.

Also Borja the only #9 he has yet to use. 4 of them with so few CMs is kind of suicide.

Who else was he going to call tho? Solis or Puerta? 2 unproven prospects? Portilla ? or 2 other Hasbins in Barrios or Campuzano?

Sadly we had a few U23 guys who shit the bed at Olympic qualifiers and killed their chances as well like Nelson Palcaio who left Nacional for MLS that killed his NT chances.

I strongly disagree about Borre. He is a shit finisher but you can’t say it’s like playing with one less man when he is one of the hardest workers on the field, running and pressing everywhere which is why the coach fancies him. It’s his work rate why he came in to help maintain control since we only needed a draw

now he is a terrible finisher so I am not a fan but it’s far from playing with one less

you're not wrong. i used to be a big fan of Uribe and one of his few defenders here, but i don't see his purpose anymore (kinda like Abel by 2018 World Cup). Rios / Lerma / Castano should be the three guys and it would be nice to have one more proper CM. i always liked Barrios but Barrios has been surplus the way Guarin was surplus to Pekerman.

When I saw Uribe/Borre on at the same time against Brazil - my blood pressure shot up, if the game was another 10 minutes longer, i don't think we would have kept the 1-1 result...

Borre is a box 2 box striker which I guess Nestor likes and the results have been there, so why change it (trying to put myself in Nestor's shoes). Uribe, like i mentioned in another post has that leadership capability as seen by the transition with the armband anytime James leaves the game...

If Uribe plays against Panama, i can see him trolling us and getting a goal just because Panama will park the bus and we'll end up with a scrappy goal which is something Uribe is good at doing...lol

we all know Uribe is Lorenzo’s dude.

the thing is you cant bench Rios or Lerma bc they are clearly superior.

Uribe has not done it that bad when he came in last time.
