He was just waiting for a call-up from Portugal though. I'm sure if they never came in for him he would've got a passport to continue with his England career.
You would hope the FA have done their due diligence though either way to make sure he has/got or now qualifies for a passport or what is the point to pick a player that’s not able to qualify?
Some would argue it is more down to the elite player performance plan or changes at grassroots level. On Ngwashi, was he born in Italy? If that is the case he might not be available next month. Also wonder if Italy don't rate him ahead of say Iddrisa from West Brom or whether Ngwashi prefers England enviroment. There was an agreement between management staff. Not sure what their coach meant about England being used to playing at this level more often though.
He explains it in the sentence before. They expended a lot of energy trying to keep up with England's speed and power in the first half but couldn't keep it up for a full game.
I think so, his dad definitely lived in Italy at one point so I imagine that's when he was born. Iddrisa is being used at RB for Italy and plays in midfield for West Brom so they wouldn't really be competing for the same spot.
Mad how small he is, reminds me of Guily. Amir Ibragimov almost scores an unbelievable goal! He picks the ball up in his own half and drives into the Sutton half before trying his luck from range but hits the post!Still Manchester United u21s 0-0 Sutton United.#MUFC #MUAcademy pic.twitter.com/RNEVvfWcCN— UnitedAnalyst (@UnitedAnalyst7) February 25, 2025
I really don't buy the claim that he's older than he says he is, or at least I don't find the tiny amount of evidence in support of it convincing. He's about to turn 17 in April and I think he looks exactly that age.
Wonder why he wasn’t in this latest squad, presumably injured when the squad was announced or just looking at other options for these friendlies?
