What's exactly your point? I mean, I know Gerd Muller's goalscoring record is impressive no matter what is the cutoff but doesn't make much sense for you to mention this when comparing him to a sweeper. Beckenbauer's contributions weren't limited to scoring goals
If current analytics is guilty of somewhat overstating the pragmatic importance of being an entertaining and interesting player in possession of the ball, I wouldn't see why that can't be also true for the past. The eye-test must have been even more emphasized, especially due to the limited statistics available. Regardless of your actual level of pragmatic worth, I think it is always better for personal recognition and accolades to be an exciting player for the spectator whilst you have the ball at your feet. Uli Hoeneß (who seems to be a pacy dribbling type of player) seems to be higher rated in terms of seasonal average ratings by Kicker, than Gerd Muller. There does seem to be a stylistic preference, that would probably count against someone like Gerd Muller. I think it is one thing to be pragmatically effective, and another to be worthy of adulation. Of course, if possible, a player should aim for both. If given the choice of one, I always prefer the one with greater pragmatic value, even if I hate watching him. I personally do not think the Kicker ratings are accurate reflections of the pragmatic value Gerd Muller brought to his team, from the little I've seen of him. It would probably be accurate that with the ball at his feet, Gerd Muller was not even the best in his position within the Bundesliga for that specific time-frame. However, while other legendary Bundesliga attackers like Karl-Heinz Rummenigge probably produce 10 times the amount of excitement and dopamine hits for the spectator when he gets the ball compared to Gerd Muller (and as such probably gets rewarded by magazines and pundits), I'm not sure if people will start picking the usual highest rated players by Kicker if their entire life savings were on the line if we strictly talk about results and pragmatic valuation of the players. I'm too uneducated about Gerd Muller to comment without talking out of my ass, but I do have some reservations about the precise measurement of pragmatic worth, if we use Kicker ratings as the standard.

From what very little I've watched (I have yet to complete a full game of Gerd Muller, before losing my focus, I can maybe last 30 minutes on a good day), I feel like some people are overly-devaluing Gerd Muller for his mediocre progressive ability with the ball at his feet (in terms of dribbling and progressive passing), which is parallel to the type of analyzing (in my opinion) that results in Uli Hoeneß being rated higher in terms of Kicker ratings. I really don't like players being ranked by their progressive ability with the ball at their feet only. I think Gerd Muller wasn't just another positionally aware poacher who can be marked out of a game with tight enough marking, he had an element of unstoppable nature to his game. I think this is the key distinction. He literally was almost impossible to prevent from scoring, which cannot be said for a lot of brilliant goal-scorers. He could receive the ball in difficult scenarios, but with his quick thinking, good strength with the goal behind his back, fast turn rate without losing balance, really good flexibility and ability to hoodwink his markers to wrong-foot them to suddenly open up shooting angles, could combine these traits to score at the blink of an eye, that looked close to superhuman to my eyes. A lot of players have hesitation, or even over-complication with impressive but unecesssary touches of the ball, but Gerd Muller had brevity. There is an art to that. You don't need to make goal-scoring aesthetically pleasing to be functionally superlative. Let the Puskas Awards handle that topic.
