Saw the replay few times. Jude was a fair bit behind but there was no defender tracking him. So maybe would have had a 1v1 situation had Endrick played the ball to left and have Jude chase it.
It's not that he didn't pass the ball to Jude. With only a few minutes remaining in agame you are winning 1-0 and you are in a position to dribble at the defense, you head for the corner flag and try to hold onto the ball as long as possible. You don't shoot the first chance you get. Even if nobody on the coaching staff told him before he went in, he still should have known. PS: I'm not sure why people are getting bent out of shape because he didn't make some miracle pass to Jude, that's not what he should have done.
Endrick's shot was at 89th minute. There was 8 minutes injury time after that. No RM player is gonna give up a counter chance at 1-0 just to waste 30-45 more seconds at corner flag. That'd be atrocious loser mentality.
We'll have to agree to disagree. For me that's time wasting tactics 101, more honorable than some of the other stuff I see go on. And that's if you want to even call that a "chance". 35 meters out with a defender in front and a defender chasing from right behind you and the GK standing on his line. I wouldn't call it a chance.
It was a chance and he only had 1 defender to beat who was backing down. Should have tried to beat him to set up 1v1 chance with GK which was higher percentage opportunity than long shot. Even if defender had won that battle, it'd have been worth the take on. Jude was a fair bit behind so I don't really blame him for not going for that option.
He should have delayed slightly and then play the ball into space where Jude was running into. I’d wager Jude would have scored.
