His dad was no more than a journeyman player-turned-coach in the dark days of indoor or bust.

That gave Christian an early insight into the extremely unglamorous life that awaited him if he didn't make the most of his undoubted natural abilities. A great way of bringing early focus to that innate competitiveness and spirit.

For those who hack on Gio Reyna, it's worth noting many top level sons of players had undistinguished journeymen fathers and how few had top flight players: Lamapard and Maldini are the only ones I can think of off the cuff

That Blind guy was decent… there are few, but it’s no guarantee of course.

On the other hand Pulisic seems to have had a relatively comfortably upbringing, even one some would call privileged. Undoubtedly his dad’s connections aided his development and provided something of a more comfortable path to professional success. Not sure he was pondering a potentially unglamorous life when he was out there juggling a soccer ball and building the basis of a pro worthy skill set.

I hope Milan brings their A game to Leverkusen on Tuesday and get some points out of that match.

This match will definitely shows if Milan had finally turned things around from their early poor start to the season.
