‘Aston Villa on Wednesday? Harry Kane: "I assume I'll be able to play"’ ‘Harry Kane: "It's painful, but I think it's ok. We'll check the foot again tomorrow."’
With Englands shortage of natural left backs available i thought Lewis Hall had a great game against Man City. Has to be on Carsleys radar
Cole palmer reminds me so much of rvp at a young age rvp became a world class striker and palmer is better than he was at this age frightening prospect I really see him as the heir to Harry kanes throne
‘Cole Palmer: “I should have had five or six!”. “When I missed the first chance I was upset, but with the way they played and their high line I felt we would get more chances”.’ Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler: “Cole Palmer is special. He’s unstoppable, there are not so many players like him”. ‘Enzo Maresca: “I know Cole Palmer from many years ago, I had him at Manchester City in the U23”, tells BBC. “The best thing is the way he is as a human is the same way”. “This doesn't change his life and that is the best thing for him”.’ Maresca on Palmer: "I said to Cole, he scored four but he could score two or three more. It's important to be hungry and ambitious. I worked with Cole before and the best thing he has, is the way he is now is the same as he was when he was a boy." Maresca on Palmer: "He is a simple guy, humble guy, he doesn't have to tell people how good he is because you can see how good he is."
I think Palmer really needs to be the 10 for England. He looks to have that leading player mentality that Foden lacks. I think something like this -----------------------Kane----------------------- Gordon------------Palmer---------------Saka ----------Rice-------------------Bellingham--- ----------------------Gomes--------------------- Rice and Bellingham have the physicality and work rate to protect Gomes who should help us hold possession. Whilst Gordon isn't the most technically gifted he stretches play and is an absolute nightmare for defenders with his directness and high pressing. I watched the City game yesterday and he just didn't stop pressing their defenders.
I think we're looking at Palmer probably becoming one of the best players in the world. Grealish is good but he can only dream of playing a match like Palmer did yesterday. Surely Palmer has to start for England every game he's available?
England winger Eberechi Eze is "at peace" with his position at Crystal Palace, who were surprised not to receive more interest from the Premier League's top clubs in the 26-year-old in the summer. (Mirror), external Newcastle United are willing to let England striker Callum Wilson, 32, leave on a free transfer next summer if they can't find a replacement in January. (Give Me Sport) Former Chelsea winger Joe Cole has suggested that Anthony Gordon could replace Harry Kane as England's striker. (Mail on Sunday)
You know Foden will be a different player under Carsley - Southgate might say in the future his biggest regret is not getting the best out of him the past two years.
Southgate’s limitations tactically made it very challenging for numerous players. It was pretty much impossible to play Trent even at right back. A lot of people seem to think it was preference for why options didn’t play under him but I just don’t think he knew how he could make it work collectively.
Southgate just didn't give Trent many minutes but I don't think Foden's struggles can all be pinned on Southgate. As imperfect as the setup was, pretty much every other big name attacker/attacking midfielder produced under Southgate so I think Foden's poor showings fall on him.
It be interesting to see if he is. Carsley worked with him at Man City and got a lot out him but that was youth football and since then Foden has rarely performed internationally and could be the next in a long line of players who only really show their best at the club level.
🔴⚠️ Bayern statement confirm Harry Kane suffered a painful blow to his ankle yesterday.Tests carried out today showed a positive development as Kane will continue to receive intensive treatment. pic.twitter.com/BbLaZGAiCn— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) September 29, 2024
Everyone is raving about cole palmer right now but it's hard to say who's better between him saka foden and Bellingham. They're all generational talents but they all have such high numbers. If it was me I'd say right now palmer is ahead of the others but it's so close between him and Bellingham. I would say all 4 would walk into any other national team
…………….palmer Gordon……………..Saka ……….rice …..Bellingham …………Wharton could see that as a future midfield and attack when Kane retires if gittens keeps playing well he might be a lw
I did the same not long back as well! I think it has to be Saka that makes way. An excellent player but Palmer is becoming undeniable. We could play Saka on the left but we'd lose a bit of dynamism through a lack of pace.
If Chelsea continue in this form Sancho will be back in the England squad.Having Sancho Palmer and Saka behind Kane would be interesting to say the least.
He didn’t give Trent many minutes because he didn’t feel he could get the best of him in his system. His system rarely provided support for options that required it defensively. Quite a lot of the complaints about Walker always ignore that he was put in very challenging positions by Southgate. Foden was also forced into positions when he was expected to take people on and beat people for pace. Add in the fact the movement around him was usually poor. I’m not even making a defence of Walker or Foden or claiming they didn’t struggle at times but I do think the critique of both is pretty unfair.
I wonder if Lee Carsley is going to be at the Ipswich v Villa game. 10 English players starting. Seems the logical choice.
