Austria leading a group with France and Netherlands, Georgia beating Portugal, Ecuador losing in penalties to the World Cup champion, makes me wonder if we are too harshly critical of Mexico. Watching the games it of course feels like we can do more, but on a global scale it seems there’s a lot more parity than we’d like to admit. Every team we struggle against means we’re doomed and the teams are minimized but then end to doing well otherwise. Even Qatar had won two straight afc cups and one of their teams pretty handedly won the afc champions league
