I can see Lorenzo playing him in the Semis. Especially in a close game that may go to penalties.
I hope we do not see him in that situation on Saturday lol.

I could see him coming in to cool down the game and just keep possession though against Panama when we are up big. That would be fully welcomed.

We outplayed Brasil, irrespective of the score. I'm happy!

    1 x 1:

Vargas: 7 - Can't blame him for the goal, he was so close to it. Stopped one at the end that was tough. Good distribution.

Machado: 6 - Thought he helped in possession, but a cheap card early made it wise to take him off.

Davinson: 6 - Had to get on his bike and I think for the first time ever I saw him lose a pure foot race to Vini Jr.

Cuesta: 6 - Drops a point for one lazy back pass that caused danger (though he cleaned it up neatly), but he was excellent in possession and playing from the back.

Munoz: 8 - Great goal and the emergence of his confidence is so impressive. We have a great RB!

Lerma: 7 - After a shaky start, did well breaking up play in midfield.

Rios: 8 - A revelation. Played with strength and athleticism and read the field beautifully. A big-time performance.

Diaz: 7 - Terrific. Never tired and beat his marker frequently. Should have had an assist in the 84th minute.

Arias: 8 - Completely unintimidated by the Scratch, so many Ole's as he worked the mid field and found teammates in space. He is doing so much work for James.

James: 9 - A masterclass. Hit the bar on the first free kick and put in what seemed like an endless stream of perfect balls into the area. Got stuck in too - winning the 50/50 ball that led to the Munoz goal. For one night, he looked 21 again...

Córdoba: 8 - Bravo. Showed abilities as a 9 he hadn't displayed fully before in yellow. Perfect pivot play to assist on the goal, and set up defenders with back to goal controlling the flow of play on the wing. Clearly the starter over Borre at this point.

JMezzy: 10 - Hope you had a great night bud! You brought the good luck.

I don't suppose you have an image of it do you? And Cordoba is aligned with the brazilians; the blue line.

We all need to say a huge thank you to Lorenzo for being such a boss and giving us our identity back. We had it under Pekerman but lost it slowly after 2014 and set into a negative and passive game, we now play on the front foot against everyone and it utilizes our strong points.

James is balling out, its insane this guys brain and technical ability is at its peak right now even if he's not been playing much and his body is slowing down, we just need to keep him healthy for 2 more years.

Cordoba has played really well and surprised me, he's gotten better and added more to his game at this age and he's grabbed his opportunity.

I will keep yelling it, Rios is a godsend and the most underrated addition to our team, we need that type of athletic player to help in a midfield with James who can also combine and hold the ball to attract pressure. I'd say the same about Arias, but I think everybody knows how great that guy is. Having Arias/Rios each side of James means that you have to always play Russian roulette to press on James or press on those guys, they defend like dogs and when we get the ball they can torture you 2 way players who athletically make up for James shortcomings.

    We back baby!!

I’ll start a Panama thread later today. Am traveling this morning :)

super happy with the result yesterday. James playing defense and his contributions on field almost brought a tear to my eye.

foolish yellow by Lerma is my only complaint and Borre’s missed sitter…

Mojica had a great stop at one point - I think we all remember which play that was.

    Arias / Rios - our two x-factors.

Lerma is our enforcer... that should have been a red or yellow to the Brazilian they only gave a card because we freaked out and almost started another brawl. Ref just let Brazil hack at our players legs and dont say anything

I'm wondering which team Lorenzo will start on Saturday, our ateam, a mixed one or will he maybe go all in with a b team and rest our best players?

Losing our 25/26 game unbeaten run to Panama for using a mixed team would be dumb

    We can't use Lerma

So Castano or Uribe will need to start. Good game for Castano to get back his form as wouldn't want his shaky form to come in cold vs Uruguay or Brazil round 2

I wouldn't rest James, Arias, Diaz. I just hope we win early enough to take them out early. Quick 2 or 3+ then put in Sini, Yaser, Santi Arias, Borja, and Duran.

Please no more Borre what does he have to do so the coach sees he is fking SHIT player. Man he is worst than Falcao now and at least Falcao is our Legend.

Arent you the one who is always asking for a 50 players callup? and now you are afraid of starting a b team against Panama?

my only worry is not if we can beat Panama with our b team, because for sure we can it's more about having mental distractions since the other team is too weak.
Dont forget our players grew up eating arepas and that Colombian DNA is still hidden somewhere in them.

There will be no B team. This is a knock out game. No one is fielding the bench. That’s a sure way to get yourself fired if you lose or draw and go to pks

I do not see Lorenzo experimenting much.

    The only few questions are:
    Will he start Mojica? (Probably)
What will our Defensive midfield pairing be? (Rios- Castaño?)
    Will Lucumi be available?

We can afford not using Lucumi or at least subbing him somewhat late to ease him back into the squad. We have the luxury not needing to rush his return until Uruguay.

I think there's almost a 0% chance Lorenzo fields a b team or rests James unless he's really tired/injured to the point that he can't go. Costa Rica was the chance to rest and rotate and he didn't do it at all, and although we should be able to handle Panama the room for error is zero.

I will also say that with us clearly playing our 9 as an out and out right winger at times Cucho needs more of a look in the future, he's a better finished and dribbler than Borre and he presses and defends and can operate in the middle, teams are going to adapt and put these guys in difficult positions and scheme how to defend against it and so we should be a step ahead and have guys who can operate more like wide forwards ready to play.

There seems to be a trend of Uribe coming on the field before James gets subbed off and the arm band changing “arms”

I expect to see Castaño/Rios starting with Uribe coming in later in the game. James will hopefully just need to put in 60-65 before Yasser/Carrascal/JFQ comes on.
