Well I "could" be wrong. I have been before and I promise to be wrong again, sometime. 3-0 at the half
Paraguay just scored a really good goal. it was hit from distance and it looked like it was speeding up after being hit.
My meds are kicking in so i might be seeing things a bit wrong but it looks to me like a LOT of players on both sides are right on the verge of an anger outburst. Is there history between these two?
Brazil looks like they changed bodies with another, much better, team before this match. It is now 4-1 and counting.
they’re not playing any better than last game. The ball just went in a few times and they got a lucky penalty (2 but missed one). Giving up a lot more opportunities too.
4-1 quite flattering to Brazil. Not because they played poorly, but Paraguay played quite well. Highest quality game of the competition so far. Brazil got a couple of fortunate bounces/look what I found kind of goals. Paraguay probably deserved 2 goals out of that game. Brazil's penalties were both point blank shots rifled into Paraguayan arms, which should have been better retracted. Colombia only needs a tie to win group. I wonder if both teams will "go for it" to avoid Uruguay in the QFs.
Which has been true for most of eternity. Brazil is Brazil. Argentina is Argentina. And people are acting surprised that Colombia is good? They're on what? A 25-match unbeaten run? And people are surprised they knocked the stuffing out of Costa Rica? Uruguay hasn't had to get out of 2nd gear at this event. It'll be interesting to see how good they are against good teams in the knockout phase. Everybody and their grandmother knows that CONCACAF is down right now. This might be the weakest Mexico squad in the 35 years I've been a fan. Costa Rica is down, and brought a young squad to this event as they're rebuilding. Canada has a couple of good players but has no chance of beating a good team. (which they haven't done in more than 2 years). Jamaica is one of the most underachieving teams in World Soccer. The US was the CONCACAF hope at this event. And they just lost a game to Panama after one of their experienced stars inexplicably got himself sent off. The US could beat Uruguay, which wouldn't surprise me at all, and not advance.
Canada has to win or draw Chile. I'd say it's 50/50, they're not that good under pressure. Mexico has to beat Ecuador. Ecuador is not good under pressure, so I give Mexico a 70% chance. Jamaica is done. 0% We might beat Uruguay by 1 and Bolivia may lose by only 1 or 2, about 10%. I doubt Panama scores over 2, but a 1-0 is likely enough, so 90% Costa Rica is not going to win by enough, they're basically done, 5% I project Panama and Mexico to be the ones representing C-CAF in quarters.
Definitely, Uruguay is the best team in this Copa. Argentina is too dependent on Messi. If Messi is hurt, Argentina loses its edge. Colombia vs. Brazil should be a good game. Colombia has an edge. Brazil wasted the whole of 2023 and is still a team under construction. Their defense isn’t very solid.
Brazil is -120 to win ($120 to win $100) and Colombia is +340 ($100 bet wins $340). A draw is +260. You must know a lot more than the odds makers!
Odds for a Brazil win is 1.95 (-105 American odds) on Brazilian betting sites (https://oddspedia.com/br/blog/futebol/copa-america-brasil-x-colombia-palpites-apostas-02072024), I really do not think Brazil is favorite against Colombia at this stage. Do not want to play Uruguay at all. How are the odds makers predictions so far?
i wish I could get excited about any match tonight but every one of them just has been boring so far and I really don't care who wins so I will, probably, leave this thread for those that can get excited. Have fun folks! Sorry it is the teams that are boring. The match is not old enough to get boring, yet.
That’s one way of looking at it. Another way would be that the refereeing is so incompetent that it puts the integrity of the tournament into question.
