hand picked by the manager to play a perfectly crafted role where outside of these walls the players are aimless and poor. see Foden Bernardo Silva. ever heard of PSG? how did Messi Neymar Mbbappe do in the CL?
Slovenia has 2 million people and are more interested in skiing than football. How did they knock the ball about and create counters so nicely in the first half making England look like mugs? England dont have the quality to match them with even a few plays? Come one, thats all on the manager pigeon holing in his "best players" into an 11 and then hoping something happens. Bellingham needs to start cm if they are to fire at all. Balance the midfield and the wings. Foden forced on the left. Either move him central and put on someone like Gordon, an actual left winger or Gareth can grow some balls and drop either him or Saka. A right back in cm in one of the biggest tournaments in football and he thinks he can just learn it on the job. He is the definition of overthinking things.
oh no... don't call that loser over. Mr. every single England player is world class and better than ours... then can't understand why they don't perform. Grealish, Kalvin Phillips... how many names will he continually gas up that fail. Time for him to learn to turn the English TV off and don't listen to this biased donkeys who brainwash their fans.
The players are earning millions a year though, need to justify such huge salaries. Southgate is partly culpable but they have to be honest with themselves and say they’ve not been good enough.
I think most of that comes down to coaching though thats why i disputed your claim about importance of coaches. Rice isn't being put in a position to succeed IMO.
Did Stojkovic understand his team had to win to move on? Did Vlahovic tell him all about Lord Allegri's tactics?
As illustrated in graphic Spain, Germany, Portugal, and France all in the same half of the bracket. Came close to being England as well. To bad them and the Dutch weren't in there. A better than average Italy team would reach the Final. As it stands now, main focus for the Swiss. This won't be like the 2021 1st Round match when Italy destroyed them 3-0. Nor will it be like the WCQ in Basel. It will be closer to the WCQ return leg in Rome where it was even.
Yes this is a very winnable game, imo we SHOULD win this game and have the better of the play if Spaletti can figure out the tactics, formation.
has draw written all over it. the good thing is this is the first game where we will have the ball since Albania we have to give the team some credit they had to face Spain and Croatias midfield.
IMO, this is one of the more evenly matched R16 games. Not all R16 matchups are finalized but there are some lopsided ones shaping up out there.
Yes it is very difficult. It is similar to Austria last time out except we are not rolling offensively like we were then. It will be very difficult we will need that moment of magic from someone like we got from Chiesa in extra time against Austria in 2021. This is kind of like 2004 if it was not a 16 team tournament as it was and we then got out of the group when we did not have a great group stage. Two draws and a win with a late goal in the third game which was enough this time but was not then. In fact this whole tournament is very 2004 where France and England have come up short as favourites so far and some smaller teams are looking like they could be giant killers. I don't feel pressure because I assumed we were out so Zacagni's goal should be a clean slate. I am grateful that despite our flaws we've overcome the early Albania goal and the Spain match and going down 1-0 to Croatia. We allowed the earliest goal in tournament history and then scored the latest goal in tournament history. This now is gravy this is what we were denied in 2004 now let's just see how it goes and hope for a good performance. It is a very even tournament.
Southgate is the highest paid international manager is he not? The players need to step up once the manager plays them in a simple system that works for them. Then you can rightly claim the players are the issue. Putting in a patchwork quilt of players because they are names and hoping it comes together is madness. You claimed the manager has little impact, its a ludicrous statement to make. Southgate wouldnt be able to win a Serie C title.
They all say we are in the better side of the bracket! However, in case we qualify we will most probably face the number 1 favourite that is England! Of course they obviously don’t play as a big team until now! Maybe this will change in knockouts! I hope not and that we can beat them again if we meet again as was the case in the previous Euro!
I think the reality is, if we get past Switzerland and do have to face England, it will not be an easy game. We have to prepare this will be a tough game even if England has not looked good.
There are no easy games for us. This team just isn't that good and Spalletti hasn't convinced. We can get by the Swiss, but I'm hardly as confident as I would have been had we the 2020 Euro squad.
