Yep, Reece James could play that role. Reece is more adaptable. Not sure why he wasnt included, I mean if Southgate included Luke. imho the midfield would work nest with Declan Rice solo and then 4 in front of him Saka -----Palmer----Bellingham----Foden that is how you win Mainoo comes on to add some more defensive when needed

The TAA experiment as a CM is not working. Declan Rice has also been very poor - good player, he just looks knackered. When you posted this after the first game I thought "too risky, not enough balance" But I think you were right. If they're gonna be told to play so carefully, you need more manpower when the time does come to attack
Tournament football is very different. It is the summer. You have to play your best players. You should play Palmer - he is in form and he has immaculate control of the ball. Bellingham AND Palmer? Why not? Play to win. Let the youngsters off the leash. I think the other big problem England currently have is Declan Rice. He looks knackered. He has had a tough season. He has very low energy. Not sure what the answer is there. Drop him? Dropping him seems unthinkable. He is obviously the best player England have in that role, but he looks shattered and his passing has been awful. Mainoo. Kids in form and he has energy.

He looked good. Cole Palmer had more shots on target (1) in 19 minutes than Bukayo Saka (0) had in 216 minutes at the Euros. I mean real the issue is that Southgate run out of ideas about 4 years ago. He had that waistcoat thing going on. All was well. Did he try anything else? A bow tie? Some flares? He should have gone with a bowler hat. But he just ran out of ideas.
