Atlanta MLS team name 3.0 tournament: Picks

So, it's been years since we had a MLS team name tournament... And it seems like we are on the cusp of getting a team. Therefore, I propose having another Atlanta MLS team name tournament for fun and for kicks. I understand a lot of these names are not going to be liked... but it's something fun to do on the side while we wait for our team.

Rules:
1. There will be a preliminary round to determine which names enter the tournament. From the preliminary round, there will be 48 teams name selected. From there, there will be 8 groups of 6 team names each.
2. Just like in the World Cup format, the top two team names selected will advance to the round of 16.
3. The winner will be decided by the top number of votes received from each group.
4. If there is a tie. In the group stage and until the semi-final round, there will be a sudden death (i'll exclude myself unless someone else wants to tally the votes). With the semi-final round, there will be a one day add on to vote.
5. Each round will be one week long. The voting for this round will start immediately. But I will say that the last vote that will count will be Sunday at midnight for each round. Any vote after that will not be counted
6. For the preliminary round only, you can add in a name of your choice in a group but cannot add in a name that's already in play. Note that for that name to win that it still has to win more votes than all the other names.
7. You cannot change your vote once it's been cast.
8. Just have fun with this... I wanted to create this tournament again just as a way to keep us involved on these boards and amp up the excitement of getting a team. So please, try to keep a good attitude and understand that it's fine to vote for a team name that might not be a team name you like... it could just be the best of the least liked... And hopefully, towards the quarter-finals... at least semi-finals , we really got some good names.

Like the discussion thread, I ask that people just list a list of names that they would like entered into the competition. Include any variation of the name, the ones already included on the discussion forum i'll include in the tournament.... If needed, I may add a name or two at the end to make it all fit.

Of note, please, don't list the same name twice.... if a poster already has listed a name then it is included. However, you may add a variation of the team name. For example, FC Atlanta Locomotive, can be listed differently than Atlanta Locomotive FC.

MOD NOTE: please delete all post from the first through epjr thrashers post. (and this one when done)... I want this thread to clearly be for voting only and that first round of voting was too big, and I didn't want to start a new thread to serve the same purpose.

 

32 team names that have been mentioned over the years, and plenty that I can't stand... For example, FC... That have been suggested by other posters. In short, this is not a list of my suggestisons...I did my best to compile a list of 32 team names that have been talked about over the years. I understand that there are going to be a lot of stinkers, but that is the point of process of elimination. When we get to the final 8, I want to extend the rounds to two weeks to allow more room for discussion once we have weeded out the stinkers. That said, I want to keep conversation to a minimum in this thread. I hope that at the least you can decide which is the better smelling piece of crap.

 

I may change up the final 8... The first two rounds I just want to get rid of the garbage.

I know I want the final 8 to be two weeks and for voters to be more involved in arguing for or against a team name.
