I have the same feelings, quietly optimistic but we've been here before. The main thing is I want to see a never-say-die attitude in the team. We had it for a while with Ole's teams but lost it in the final half-season. Never saw it with Rangnick's or ETH's teams. I know it is an individual thing with players but for feck sake, show some heart and that you care.
if anyone cares here's the staff: Carlos Fernandes - assistant head coach Amorim's assistant, 29, has worked with him at Casa Pia, Braga and Sporting. Jorge Vital - goalkeeper coach Vital was Amorim's goalkeeper at Braga and began coaching with him in 2020 at Sporting. Adelio Candido - first-team coach A fixture of Amorim's backroom staff, the 28-year-old has worked with him at Casa Pia, Braga and Sporting. Emanuel Ferro - first-team coach Ferro was a coach while Amorim played for Benfica and they combined when Amorim took charge at Sporting, where Ferro was already working. Paulo Barreira - physical performance coach Familiar with the Premier League, having previously worked at Arsenal and Liverpool. https://www.skysports.com/football/...-latest-on-deals-signings-loans-and-contracts not sure how i feel about Fletcher staying. especially with van Nistelrooy going. probably because i am not sure how to assess what value Fletcher adds or has added
BREAKING: Ruben Amorim will have to work on a more modest budget to Erik ten Hag. ❌ “He will be tasked with maximising the untapped potential in the squad as the club aim to end the damaging and costly cycle of mass overhauls”. #MUFC [@TelegraphDucker] This is actually good news.
I think the big the a manager needs to do is come in and get PART of the team performing/firing, show that you can build something and demonstrate that a position is lacking player up to it. With ETH it rarely felt like 'Oh our offence is firing, if only we could fix the FB issue' it was just like sticking more and more fingers in a sinking ship
We must sign a LB. We can't go the whole season without. Anyone decent on loan might do given circumstances. Don't know what Amorim can do up front to get us scoring again. That will take a trick or two. There are deals to be had for one or two super forwards.
Saw a few places suggest Amorim likes his wingbacks inverted which would make Antony RWB. For the usual reasons in attack of having wingbacks / wingers inverted. Supposedly partly also because he likes wingbacks to switch play when deep with long passes to beat the press and find free players other side as oppo overcommit to the side with the ball. Easier to do when inverted. Have had the same thought on Antony. His massive issue as a wide forward at this level is he has neither the pace of say Rashford or the ability of Amad / Garnacho to progress the ball himself from the wing to the penalty area. If he can hit a cross or crossfield ball with accuracy he may be able to play wingback at times. Better options as starters but as a sub / backup maybe.
I didn't know that. He has the work rate and commitment. Maybe Ruben can sell him on the move. Cause Anthony may not be up for it mentally.
Given the limited players available to him owing to internationals, can't read a huge amount into this but according to this report his team was setup as follows in training (guessing on which sides); Yoro - Evans - Shaw Antony - Casemiro - Mainoo - Malacia Amad - Mount Rashford pic.twitter.com/3lCXOLqBUM— dreamteamz (@dreamteamz3) November 18, 2024 I think Rashford wrote "Top Session Today" along with a starry eyed emoji on his insta - so he seemed to like it
