Little surprised they didn't call that back for offsides on Puli. Keeper sure seemed to react to his run, and he looked miles offside (super happy for pepi though. he's earned that)
I started watching late and just saw the 2nd goal. It reminded me that this is another more frequent thing this window...we're seeing a lot more of the "Man City cutback cross" instead of the "Berhalter/old-school English whip in a hopeful cross in the air around the 6".
if they aren't going to press the ball it's the easy better play. under beerholder we panicked unnecessarily too often given our improved technical level across the board.
are the pessimists gonna take back the rubbish where this team has no talent. this should be making it abundantly clear how bad this was held back by poor coaching.
yeah exactly plus that crap field was a HUGE advantage for the reggae boyz us fed should really look into enforcing some minimum field standard in the region, even if they have to fund it
The USMNT always looks much more fluid with Weah on the field. The other wingers in the top tier of the NT pool are too similar to each other, so Weah gives us some much-needed tactical flexibility. His movement opens up a lot of space for other players even when he's not getting the ball.
Most impressive thing to me is that aside from two Musah receipts, one Tessman pass and that McKenzie thing at the end ... the focus really looks there. Players quick to the ball, making crisp passes, making conservative passes in the back until it's on, no one stranding a player with a weak backpass, etc. Some of that is the field being better, but we simply just seem much more focused. The lazy stuff is largely gone. Jamaica is falling apart, so I don't know how much the rest will translate, but it's nice to get a rout going.
This is fun and comfortable, but their ball pressure & intensity is non-existent. This feels like a training session. So got to see it against different opponents to truly tell if something's changed. Though it's hard to believe we are uninspired & bereft of ideas as the end of the Berhalter era.
I'm watching on delay, but this feels kind of inspired... At face value, and seeing how ARob is popping up so far, it's a smart use of Robinson's dynamism and athleticism -- he's closer to the midfield and is easy to get him involved in the attacking third. and forces him out of the mindset of "your job is to get forward, overlap, and cross". I quite like it! CP and Weah working together is just common sense... but add in Robinson, that's a really nice triangle to see working together.
I loved that. I'm trying to think of the right word to describe our attack. What's the opposite of constipated?
There’s about 8 or 9 of these guys that I’d out on a plane at half time if I could. Even of that meant playing the second half short a few papers.
its really simple when you move together as a team and know how to coordinate your movements well poch is unafraid to turn the ball over and let his team fight to defend in transition....which opens up the offense more than we've seen also poch press seems to work better....got some good turnovers and really didnt expose the team too much in transition interesting wrinlle to have puli central and weah wide left....worked well...along with jedi crowding into the center of the field this team is only getting started, imo
Great to see a rout, even if this might be the worst Jamaican effort I’ve ever seen. I wish the semifinal was sooner.
Gerry Cardinale would be a fool if he agreed with selling Pulisic for any money. Gerry is American, Puli is American, Gerry owns the YES Network and a stake in Paramount+ (which broadcasts Serie A to the US), and also benefits from the summer friendlies that Milan plays in the USA; the interest in Milan has skyrocket in the USA since we signed Christian. Puli generates money for Gerry in all of that, and in US merchandise sales. He is the most popular and most prestigious American soccer player. Getting rid of him would be like killing the Golden Eggs Goose. Gerry is a businessman. Puli is money in the bank for him. He won't agree with a sale, two years before the World Cup in the USA. In the next two years, Pulisic's popularity in the USA will generate even more money for Gerry. As for Puli himself, I doubt he will be tempted by Premier clubs. Puli makes 5.3 Million Euro at Milan, and likely Premier clubs would offer more. However, Puli makes a lot in endorsements and ads. He doesn't really depend as much on salary money. He was injury-prone in the very physical EPL, and he has been injury-free with AC Milan. Also, Milano is a great city and he is happy there. He is beloved by the fans and by the teammates. Fonseca loves him too. I think we are quite safe in terms of keeping Puli with us at AC Milan.
