Trump off to a great start! "Two moderate Republican senators, Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Susan Collins (Maine), have already expressed strong reservations about Gaetz’s nomination to serve as attorney general. Four Republicans would need to vote against Gaetz to sink his nomination, and GOP members warn he is likely to encounter resistance from other members of their conference. “He’s got an uphill climb,” Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said when asked about Gaetz’s nomination. Other GOP sources say Gaetz’s nomination is in serious trouble. Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who has a number of friends in the Senate GOP conference, told Bloomberg Television that Gaetz won’t secure the 50 votes he needs to become attorney general. “Look, Gaetz won’t get confirmed,” he told the outlet. “Everybody knows that.” Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) told The Hill that McCarthy’s dire prediction is probably spot on. “I think he’s pretty right, actually,” he said." You're a lot of things, but even you aren't so stupid as to conflate the fact DoJ didn't pursue this at trial is the same as innocence. Gaetz isn't innocent and is almost certainly guilty. Probably explains why he was the only "no" vote on a human trafficking bill that Trump later signed into law. Imagine how despicable you have to be to cast the ONLY 'no" vote on a bill like that.
Speaking of Gaetz, whatever happened to his "adopted son" Nestor? You know, the pool boy/masseuse he had living with him.
Most have been poor picks (considering only those who need confirmation) The Bad Gaetz (Attorney General) - No experience leading a large department or organization; no indication he has familiarity with government legal process Hegseth (Defense Secretary) - Has no substantial leadership experience, let alone one relevant to leading a 3m+ department Gabbard (Director of National Intelligence) - No leadership experience; has previously questioned US intelligence gathering on conspiracy lines Kennedy (Health and Human Services Secretary) - Is not a trained medical or (relevant) scientist; is against some proven current medical research (such as vaccines); no experience leading a large orginization Collins (Veterans Affairs Secretary) - Only military experience is as a chaplain; no leadership experience Ratcliffe (CIA Director) - Former Director of National Intelligence, though at end of Trump's first term (though misrepresented himself); has shown to be fast and loose with intelligence favoring/disfavoring Trump The Okay Noem (Homeland Security) - Has led a state, all be it a small state; very little experience in national security or intelligence Burgum (Interior) - Has led a state, though it can be considered relevant; most of background is in the tech sector Wright (Energy Secretary) - CEO of Liberty Energy, a fracking company; no government experience Zedlin (EPA Administrator) - No substantial leadership experience; No experience with environmental issues beyond voting for bills The Acceptable Rubio (Secretary of State) - Has some leadership experience (Speaker of Florida House); Thrice elected to US Senate; seems to have relevant experience Stefanik (UN Ambassador) - Member of House leadership It must be said, though, that prior qualifications are not necessarily indicative of a poor ability. 2 examples: Haley as UN Ambassador - she had only experience as Gov. of South Carolina, though seemed to handle herself well (even if I disagreed with many of her positions) Buttigieg as Secretary of Transportation - Also, no significant leadership experience, and while some said he should be Secretary of State, I balked; seems to have handled his position well The problem is that none of The Bad should be confirmed, and there are a lot of them. Simply because they are bad. I get that Trump wants to "disrupt" (re: cause chaos), but that is no excuse to nominate people wholly unqualified. The rest are okay, even if I disagree with their policies. Trump is also skipping FBI background checks (which are thorough) for more streamlined private company background checks. Changing the norm is one thing, but when you have people like Gabbard who has promoted Russian propaganda as a nominee, that is bad. https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/15/politics/security-clearances-fbi-gabbard-gaetz/index.html
But by the letter of law everyone's considered innocent till proven guilty, so doesn't that make him automatically innocent then??
This is why everyone should want the House Ethics Committe report released. The chair is Michael Guest, a Republican, so we know there were no shenanigans ...it's been a bipartisan investigation. You can't argue that he's an innocent guy and then say, oh yeah, but let's not let the people see the report we've been working on at the people's behest and paid for by the people. Why would anyone in their right mind want the truth to be buried if Matt Gaetz is innocent and didn't really have sex with a minor, as has been reported? The guy wants to be AG for crying out loud.
he's amazing, you can even get the action figure for $59... I bet they'll even ship one to your boat in Spain.
