The door could be open for former boss Steven Gerrard to return to Rangers and replace Philippe Clement as manager.
This is sad. Liverpool Champions League hero stuck in the reserves after two years of struggle - Liverpool Echo
jeez, what a sad ending for a hell of a player and a great guy. hope someone (a decent team that is) picks him up.
It was a totally knee-jerk reaction to Torres leaving (don't forget we got Suarez at the same time more or less for 20m). He had tools - but turned out to be one himself. Liverpool was too big of a jump from a very crap Newcastle side, he was now rich, and had no work ethic. Also loved an injury (and booze). He never really did anything disrespectful while here, fortunately. I'm ambivalent to him.
Joel Matip has yet to find a new club after leaving Liverpool at the end of his contract this summer. The defender is now being linked with a number of Premier League rivals, given his acquisiton would be free. HITC claims Wolves, Bournemouth and Fulham are all interested in the centre-back, who turned 33 last month. The report states that clubs in Germany and France have meanwhile held talks.

Messi and Suarez may be two of the greatest players ever to live, but it is ex-Liverpool striker Christian Benteke who is currently the top scorer in MLS with 19 goals, despite his DC United side sitting in 21st overall.
Definitely. I had hoped he would prove his worth once he arrived, but it just never happened. He did score twice on his debut with Bordeaux.
His first match for Liverpool was against Havant and Waterlooville FC. He has a full head of hair that night, but played poorly. If memory serves, H&W took the lead, and the announcers made comments about him not being up to the physical nature of English football. The next time he appeared on the pitch his head was shaved making him look quite menacing.
Coutinho is back in Brazil with his first club. Another player who should have stayed at Liverpool, but thought he was too good for that. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...aem_0GmTlzePAxkFfjWY5axByw#Echobox=1727158628
I have to give him respect for this move. Finally a footballer doing something for the love of the game and not money. He is apparently om 2500 euros a month
From his point of view, he should have stayed. From ours, thank god he didn't - I don't think FSG complete both VvD and Ali without him going.
In a similar vein, though not a former Liverpool player. Stan Bowles. The great Stanley. Cheeky cockney and all that. Was jawing at a ref. “What would you do if I said you was a c.unt?” “Why, Stanley, I’d send you straight off”. “Well, what would you do if I thought you was a c.unt?” “There’s not much I could do really, Stanley, given that you’re thinking it”. “In that case, I think you’re a c.unt”.
