For a soccer final with fans of a team that rarely makes a final

Unfortunately you need more than even a superbowl

My sympathies for our fellow madridistas who support Colombia. They fought the good fight and had a fantastic tournament. James Rodriguez dialed it back 12 yrs to play like he is in a WC. Absolutely gutted. They played some splendid football and were my pick to go all the way.

In a battle of attrition against Argentina, it was only going to go downhill. Considering all the talent Argentina have on the bench, I can see why they grew more as the game progressed.

Messi is genuinely a handicap for his country these days. He was a passenger and their team were playing with 10 men. Once he came off, Argentina got better and Lautaro Martinez showed up to win. Di Maria is arguably, to me, one of the finest players to play for Argentina. He made some unbelievable tournament runs and he got to go out on top internationally. I can't say Argentina was better, but they found the back of the net, and that is all that matters.

Unfortunately in football it's become the norm in those "general interest" games for people without tickets to try and go and rush and overwhelm the event and hold a seat they didn't pay for.

It's happened in CL finals as well.

I'm sure they've never seen this practice first hand, but by now, somebody should've known this happens in football.

You need to set up like a 1km perimeter where you have ticket check so you only let people with tickets near the stadium. Not sure what was done here. As I mentioned before, some of this did happen in the WC 2014 but was like 50-100 fans who found a way through somehow. This was absurd.

It has happened at MULTIPLE CL finals, including the Madrid - Liverpool one in Paris where there was a walled off section. Unfortunately people do it on purpose now, attacking weak spots in crowds.

Man that was an embarrassment. From the Colombian hordes to the unprepared understaffed security and stadium.

Truly embarrassing and makes people actually sympathetic with Argentina winning

Scousers VS Colombians, battle of the Final crashers.

You can do multiple units as well, like some guys in a wheelchair with a knife being the armored units, the fat guys being the tanks, the ones that throw glass bottles being the archers.

    2 things

what an embarrassment our fans were. Most of them not real fans but all of the sudden they are passionate enough to crash the gates over and over .

And now FIFA knows they need much more for the World Cup

    Also the UBER pick
Up area was 40 mins away from the stadium lol. Surely that’s not a lot of room and time for fans to run into each other and have issues

I would think the fans who tried to break in are typically the more "passionate" about football. You don't think that was the case here ? I know Brazilians (many of whom are women) who are Brazil football fans once every 4 years ... but they aren't the types who would break into a football stadium.

No. I’ve been to a lot of Colombia matches and this has never happened. These wave of “hardcore” fans are all bandwagon fans that are hopping on the “cool thing”. All of the sudden everyone is a fan and posting pics on Facebook. The fans in the area I ended up with didn’t even know who the players were or what position they played but were drunk as hell singing and posting stories on their facebook.

It was like a lifetime event for those people. They had to be there!

a real fan knows that this is all just part of the process

I mean, even on a Real Madrid forum is it even a question anymore that Messi is the goat? Not only he's been super successful in terms of tittles, he scored so many goas, has all those assists and also now won a lot of tittles with his country as well.

Neither Cristiano nor anyone can compare with the career he's had. You can prefer other players but the fact that he's the goat is undisputed at this point.

That's very interesting. I saw one of the local news reports in Miami interviewing a Colombian fan pre-game who is literally bragging that he doesn't have ticket but guarantees he is going to find a way into the stadium. I saw a video of some Argentines jumping a wall too, but it seems like it was mostly Colombians in this case from what I've seen.

And watching a game around people who don't know shit is annoying as Hell.

Yeah man I had friends that never watch all of the sudden be super fans driving to North Carolina at 2 am to go watch the game and they didn’t even had tickets

Something like this takes over the country and it becomes an I HAVE TO BE THERE moment. It’s more about yourself than the game or the team itself.

The people next to me kept asking me to take pics of them as the match is going on

They ruined it for everyone, even the team who was already emotional and anxious. Having to deal with delays and worries about their families on the stands or outside definitely did not help the less experienced team

I don’t know if he’s the GOAT because I don’t have a good rubric to compare him w players from other eras. I think certainly his career has to get the nod over CR’s head to head just by virtue of having won the biggest trophy in sports. Tbh anyone who pretends there’s major daylight between them in terms of quality at their peaks (in either direction) is delusional. I’d probably favor Ron’s club career because he won the CL with different clubs and wasn’t a part of a series of absolutely epic flameouts in that competition. Both just utterly dominant for years. Aliens.

A couple of interesting oddities about both at NT level.

Messi with 0 goals and 0 assists in 5 CA Finals. Had he not scored that goal in the WC final in ET, he'd be 0 for 7 in major NT finals other than the PK in regular time.

Ronaldo on the other hand, 0 goals in WC KO rounds with Portugal. Granted he often didn't have a great team around him, but an oddity nonetheless.

Moments with parents matter, get them while you can; my-mother-in-law just had a massive health issue and while she is here, I will never be able to hear her voice again. Keep getting that time in.

cool your jets big guy. I will denounce and shame Colombians who did this but Argies were all up in the mix too. ANYONE who does this is ghetto AF and should be prosecuted but don’t start pointing fingers at one group of people.

I guess so but I always ask myself. How many World Cups would Ronaldo have if he was born in Argentina?

Never said Argentinians didn't sneak in... that kind of stuff happens at all events.

What doesn't usuallyhappen is a horde that incites a complete break-in... and that is what Colombians disgraceful did.

If it were Argentinians I would criticize them no differently. Just trying to balanced
