They also added our own Dom Kinnear as the top lieutenant, who found Luciano Acosta.

I don't venture out of the safety zone of the Quakes Zone. Too dangerous, trying not to get banned on the internet.

Just a wee bit of a strawman. No one is saying "better things aren't possible". I'm simply saying that "blow it up and start over" is not a realistic strategy in MLS. It takes time to overhaul your roster. And even if it were possible, the "start over" part is not a guarantor of success. It all depends on how well you do the "start over" part.

So sure, rebuild and do it as fast as you can if that's what you want to do, and you'd better be smart about how you rebuild or you will be no better. We are also operating with resource constraints unless we suddenly get a new owner (not happening). And if anyone is hoping for a Miami-style rebuild, we might as well hope for the Great Pumpkin to arrive in October, along with rainbows and unicorns, and a lifetime supply of ice cream for everybody.

"a wee bit of a strawman" says the guy who selectively cut off the rest of my comment which was about Cincy who were an existing NOT-NEW terrible team and had to by definition "overhaul an existing roster" after posting a reply that was about how "starting a new team" is different as if we don't all know that...

This is the same comment you responded to... you just deleted the top 90% that actually had any substance to it and responded to a joke at the end.

    Any comment on Cincy??

I know that Cincy turned around their team pretty quickly. I don't know the details of what they did and how much money they spent. You cut out the rest of my comment about resource constraints and the realities of our ownership situation and the likelihood of a massive overhaul at great expense for our club being roughly equivalent to the chance that the Great Pumpkin is coming in October bringing rainbows, unicorns, and ice cream for all.

John Fisher's net worth is $3.1 billion as of 2024, if he can't spend on an MLS roster which is the equivalent of paying for an above average relief pitcher in baseball, perhaps he should sell the team to someone who can considering San Jose is located in the wealthiest county in California a state that has an economy bigger than Germany.

We should at the bare minimum be able to compete financially with teams in OHIO

It's never been about what John Fisher *could* do. It's always about what he *will* do. But why don't you call up his office to schedule a 1 on 1 with him so that you can tell him what to do with his money. That oughta fix it!!! :)

I'm not the one wanting to tell John Fisher what to do with his money. You can give it to xbhaskarx. He's the one that needs to explain something to John Fisher that will surely change his mind and solve all of our problems.

yes. Plz pm it to me. I won’t say where I got it. I will organize my thoughts and give him a ring next week, express my thoughts as a concerned fan, and update you on how it goes. :)

All his info used to be in the Stanford alum directory for any alum to find. Now (just checked) it's only his business address and phone.

I think we should all call him, in a totally friendly manner, of course, and ask if he’d be willing to get a fans perspective on what’s going on with his Quakes.

What I suggest happens, is the fans get a collective group of people together, probably SSV leadership requesting a town hall meeting with Jared Shawlee, Chris Letich and Ian Russell, for open questions and answers.

This would be my professional and humble suggestion. Just a little food for thought from the inside-out.

By and large, there is a couple people here who could get that wheel at least moving to something. I could start the wagon moving, but I could careless what San Jose does at this point other then helping Ian lead the team to success.

They screwed me over with an empty promise from Fisher, and thankfully Beitashour and LAFC came to my aid.

And besides, when he just spent $10M on a player (transfer + estimated salary) and the team is somehow doing worse, it may not be the best time for the "we just need to spend more money" argument. He might be more amenable to the "we need a new GM" argument though.

That would be the most amendable suggestion, but they just fired Luchi, we have a plethora of injuries, a new coach, and the summer window just opened. Lets see what happens. I suggested Ian won't get this team looking different until the Chicago Game.

When you say “called out” do you mean Ian was complimentary?
Cuz I thought calling someone out meant picking on them for a bad performance…

The reason I’m confused is that the whole game, I was thinking that Beason was really trying hard — always. And he made that great save on the line. I know most of you guys criticize Beason, but I appreciate that he always gives 110% and even though he’s not fast, I feel he is consistent and his reading of the game has steadily improved.

Ian identified the three (Jackson was the third) as leaders in the locker room, and it was absolutely a positive.

I agree that our "not MLS caliber" players are the ones who seem to be working the hardest. Which is understandable although unfortunate. Even Hernan seems dispirited.

Wow, Jackson Yueill is a leader in the locker room? That is sooooo hard to believe. He shows no emotions and little effort on the field. I wonder if he tells a lot of jokes…

I just watched a show that mentioned Glenn Burke, who invented the high five and was loved by his teammates because he was the source of levity in the Dodgers locker room.

Actually he said Beason was a leader on the field with his communication. It wasn’t about “locker room” per se with him.

I missed that subtlety, but I'm not sure that's a good thing, being a leader on the field given how badly it's been going.

To each his own. At my age, I view people differently now than when I was your age. For example, I can almost see you as a daughter and Alex as a grandson. You both can be very cute without realizing it. :D
