Congratz brother! Venezuela playing great! Canada still is not good. When they have to play 11v11 and they don't get free space they get eaten up. With space they can utilize their speed and athleticism.
I won’t say Canada is not good, cause I know they are good and gonna be a tough game. But in the other hand I will say they faced Chile and Peru, so easy 2nd qualified. I would not dare to say that today Chile and Peru are at the level of Bolivia just because Bolivia at least has Hernando Siles and El Alto
Lol whatever you say man. Peru is in a big slump but I can't complain this the first time in a while they don't make it out of the group. They are headed towards dark times. It happens. Hopefully ya'll can play 11v11.
That is what I’m saying over and over. Peru and Chile are right now in a severe crisis, and not since the start of the CA but since like 2 years ago
First time ever a host of Copa America gets eliminated in the group stage The "giants of CONCACAF" are embarrassing and showing the real level of that confederation. I thought it was clear in 2016 when Mexico got destroyed by Chile 7-0 and USA got smacked by Argentina in semis, but no. CONCACAF shouldnt compite in Copa America cause it lowers their level...maybe CONMEBOL should stop chasing the money and bring some top teams from Euro, Africa and even Asia, to be on par with the level Copa America requieres.
This is the cup of the “first times”… Let’s see: First time Venezuela has come back from a game. First time that Venezuela beats Mexico in an official match. First time that Venezuela achieves 9 points in the first round. First time that Venezuela wins 3 games in the same cup. First time since 1917 that Chile has not scored goals in the first round First time that Argentina did not received a goal in the first round First time since 1927 that Uruguay scores 9 goals in the group stage. First time in the 21st century that Peru falls in the first round. First time the host team gets eliminated in first round. First time Panamá and Canada makes it to QF. First timé Panamá eliminates USNT from a Grp Phase. I am sure there are more “first time”, I’ll see.
For the FIRST TIME in the ENTIRE history of the Copa América, THREE teams (Argentina, Venezuela and Uruguay) have won FULL of victories in the group stage. And tomorrow there could be four for first time if Colombia defeats Brazil. ————- 15 consecutive defeats for Bolivia in the Copa América (1 away from equaling the worst streak in history, held by Ecuador since 1945). ————- First time we have a female main referee in the history of the Copa America ————- First time Uruguay wins a game against USA in USA.
Talking about the fans, some thoughts about last game in Austin, from Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/AustinFC/comments/1dsa47e/venezuela/
Congratulations to Venezuela. I like how they have improved in recent years. Hopefully they also qualify for their first ever World Cup. Their people has Been through alot. Im happy for Them, and I hope they make it even further at this Copa America.
USA played better than many expected against Uruguay's first team but still came up short. Uruguay is obviously at another level. Panama took advantage of dumb mistakes and deserved to go through. Their reward? Either Colombia or Brasil. Good luck. USA needs to do some soul searching but there really is not much they can do to improve drastically. Just hope that some of the U23 guys going to the Olympics can be the answer I suppose. The Defense and Keeper need to play minutes in bigger leagues. And the tactics need to be worked on to say the least. Final third shooting and decisions must be better come 2026.
Meh I think Peru is in a worse spot than Chile. Sure Chile is not going to be where they were when they won back to back copa Americas, but I wouldn't say they are in a full on crisis. Vidal was an incredible player that can't really be replaced IMO.
The giants of concacaf are overrated simply put. But let's not act like they don't add something to the Copa. US, Canada, and even Mexico are better than teams like Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Paraguay, Well Mexico may be level or slightly better than a couple of those teams.
I usually try to stay clear of the ripping on officials but dang. That Peruvian was so bad last night. The Salvadorian even worse the match before.
This was a MASSIVE disappointment for the US. Hosting the Copa and failing to qualify from the easiest group. This along with their failure to qualify for 2018 WC are probably the worst 2 moments in US national team history.
That's highly debatable. Let's not conflate form with quality. A year ago you might've included Venezuela in that list, but because of a few games they are suddenly removed. Similarly, Canada has just been added because of 2 matches?
Colombia-Brasil was a partidazo. Colombia deservedly found a way to win the Group and will face Panama in Arizona. Uruguay will face Brasil in what should be another partidazo in Sin City. I still have Argentina vs. Colombia in the Final but once again it is by the thinnest of margins.
Alot. Look at it this way. Colombia are unbeaten in 26 games. Hottest team on the planet. But that's still just "form". Argentina is better. Copa champions, WC champions, top of C'Bol qualifying are things that underscore their superiority atm.
