City match will end 1-1, everyones attention will turn to Arsenal/Everton where in the 94th minute the score is 2-2.
Rice will get the ball deep, hit a splitting through ball that ends up with Odegaard who plays a ball into the box as the commentary yell out "Martinelliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" and we do to City what they did to United in 2012.

After 2027 rolls around, you won't have to worry about it anymore @NorthBank. LOL

That's been a big issue for us, by the way. Playing on makeshift pitches has been holding the team back from reaching full potential. It's pretty remarkable to have built the record we've built considering the circumstances.

And mark my words, I'm walking into that damn stadium on Opening Day 2027. ;)

On another note, I'm on a roll this weekend. (Well, except for the Mets, but hey, it's the Mets.) Let's hope my good mojo drifts across the Pond and City bottles it.

Either way, we have to take care of our own business today and not worry about it. Nothing will matter if we don't beat Everton. So, stay focused and deal, lads.

It was always a big ask to hope West Ham would beat City at City, but I hope the Sp*rs fans are happy with the Europa League after Aston Villa dropped points at Crystal Palace.
In their game against City they were rooting against what might have been for them and us.

Abromovich bought CFC in mid 2003, & Sheikh Mansour bought Manchester City in late 2008. Allowing for the '03-'04 season needed for Abromovich's money to take affect at Chelsea, here are the results for England's main domestic honors over the past 20 years:

    Premiership Winners
    8 - MC
    5 - CFC
    5 - MU
    2 - Field

FA Cup Winners ('24 edition pending)
    10 - Field
    5 - CFC
    3 - MC
    1 - MU

    League's Cup Winners
    6 - Field
    6 - MC
    5 - MU
    3- CFC

    ~

Using those same particular trophies... Honors won before and after takeover:

    Chelsea
    Pre - 6 (98 yrs)
    Post - 13 (21 yrs)

    MC
    Pre - 8 (128 yrs)
    Post - 17 (16 yrs)

agreed. also when you look before chelsea arrived it’s the same financial dominance by one side.

the epl has never had any competitive balance.

it’s basically always been a monopoly held by united and now city. chelsea interrupted it for a time with their gangster blood money. united never won the title again since city established dominance

there is actually nothing new here.

Palace have been an in form team over the last month, taking 19 points from their last 7 games, including a 4-0 thrashing of United and a 1-0 victory over Liverpool

I know you’re making a point, but half of the 10 FA Cup field victories in your table belong to Arsenal.

My main point is the absurdity that Citeh apologists write off the comparisons with Chelsea despite the comparable meteoric rise achieved from playing with "house money." Considering how Chelsea have been slapped for misdeeds it'd be pretty disingenuous for Citeh to escape Scott free. Going from middling club to record setting dynasty practically overnight can only be done by outspending a lot of people, and ostensibly skirting some rules.

I'm also lamenting the notion that despite the money available in the Prem (and world footie at large) it's becoming a more entrenched aristocracy. In this case, due heavily to funds used from outside footie operations.

Don't get me wrong, the Prem era has had similar issues since day one, but rather than find ways to foster more competitive balance with the riches within the league, it's still something that allows the wealthy owners to simply spend their way out of trouble. Alas, I don't see anything changing for the better in my lifetime.

remember that putins bagman bunged Hazards agent 7m to beat United to his signature. Ser Fergus then made a cryptic comment about agents fees being too high. we thought he was talking about the advertised fee but of course the real fee was vastly more. did he do anything about this obvious corruption? of course not. did the league do anything? nope.

the idea that somehow city should get an asterisk because of some financial doping is laughable. should liverpool get an asterisk for the whole team having asthma? lol.

it’s always been a corrupt league. like the time the refs didn’t give a red card or pen against SAF for 18 months so he could earn his gold watch title.

the clubs could join together and do something about city but they choose not to.

IMO it's become actually less of an entrenched aristocracy precisely because there are more oligarch teams / sovereign teams. Boehly just arrived and spanked an unprecendented $1bn on his squad in a year or so. Man U still have vast revenues and are nowhere. If anything, the money is being crowded out.

If you go back to 2005, there were only 2 teams who could afford to compete and we saw an effective duopoly for nearly a decade.

For all the whining, City have not had more money than Chelsea or Man Utd. Those clubs were just badly managed.

Liverpool was cleverly rebuilt and also had competitive revenues. And it has vast backing if they chose to invest.

I agree the league is now a laughable joke, I just disagree about why that is.

IMO this is a good take from the G

I wrote years ago that Abu Dhabi were regarded as a highly savvy investor in trophy assets in other industries and football turned out the same way. Their only competition was hollowed out Man U, a criminal enterprise, and a couple of lazy billionaire backed sides who had made huge gains while doing nothing. Football execs got rich off the boom. But the idea things are somehow worse than when SAF won most years and the pundit class raved about his genius while buying Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez and Berbatov is laughable to me.

Villa dropped off very late in the season [where have we seen that before?] meanwhile since Palace got a new manager who knows what he is doing, Eze and Olise stopped being injured every week, Mateta hit a wicked purple patch especially at home.

If City had Palace away yesterday, we would be Champions today.
If we had Palace yesterday, we probably don't win.

They are in a wicked vein of form right now.
Smashed Villa 5-0. Smashed Wolves 1-3. Embarrassed ManU 4-0. Weird 1-1 draw with Fulham. Comfortable 2-0 win against NewU. Smashed WHU 5-2.

I am very glad we got them when they were a mess.

It's scary when the villains are competent, but worse when they aren't: that leads to 100 mile long cities in the desert and bonesaws.

Quietly, the Premier League became a farmers league this season. Not just City winning for straight, but all the goals conceded across the league. Only Arsenal conceded under 30 goals.

Everton conceded the fourth least goals with 51.

Yesterday was rough as the Arsenal are by far my favorite team in any sport, but seeing my T'Wolves advance past the defending champs yesterday made losing the league a little softer.

ANT is definitely the real deal, but the vibes from that entire Wolves team are incredible right now. Everyone is contributing in big ways. A couple notable stats from this series beyond the 45-point laugher in game 6 on Thursday night:
    • Wolves are the 1st team in NBA playoff history to win a 7-game series after winning the 1st 2 games on the road, losing the next 3 then winning the last 2.
    • Times the Timberwolves held the Nuggets under 100 points this year (11 games): 6 Times the rest of the NBA held the Nuggets under 100 points this year (83 games): 6
