We could have an '00 (or younger) discussed in this thread before long.

Does anyone mind compiling a list of all the thread eligible players?

    Thanks.

So really only Redding in terms of getting consistent PT.

Did Pierre da Silva ('98 winger or attacker) sign with Orlando City or with Orlando City B? At any rate, he's on the USL roster right now.

Slim pickings but it's four years out... I wonder how many there were four years ago at this time?

    I'd add -

    Danilo Acosta (1997) - RSL
Fito Ovalle (1997) - RSL (has played in Chile youth friendlies, but no official games, and I think he is US eligible)
    Ben Swanson (1997) - Columbus
    Christian Lucatero (1997) - Houston

@Maitreya -- Pierre da Silva is on a USL contract.

FWIW you can loan players up a roster, and a team like Seattle 2 is already starting like four thread eligible players and has like 4 on the bench, could see some move up.

I don't think S2 has any thread-eligible players who are on pro contracts except for Mansaray on loan from the big team. Everyone (AFAIK) is just a U18 academy player on an amateur contract in the USL. I'm not sure that those types of players can be loaned up to MLS. At least, it is unprecedented.

Unless they change plans and go pro, some of them will leave S2 to head to college by the summer, anyway.

they have all this summer to make an impression, and then sign a contract. Jnohope was a freshman University of Denver this year and despite being pretty far from his school in the middle of the semester, I think you're technically not allowed to play for a team affiliated to a pro team during the school year. Lorenzo Ramos was 'undecided' as of National Signing Day, so maybe he's staying with S2. I also think a ton of these 98s are staying another year with Seattle despite the graduation date for them being 2016. I've never really understood that whole mess, but that's not my job.

Jnohope will be a freshman this fall. It's possible some S2 amateurs will stick around, certainly. I'm just saying that right now, without USL contracts, I doubt these guys are eligible to be "loaned up" to MLS.

Damn University of Denver has a bio page for him already and he is listed as a freshman. Which make me wonder more, why do so many 97s wait a year for college? Just to play one more year with the team, and contribute to the U18s?

I figured academy kids couldn't be loaned up, but I was working under the assumption some were pro contracted. But I still think it's possible that one or two gets a pro contracted before this coming September, especially if there's currently like 4 starting. Their bench was covered by youngens too, the squad might pretty small if none are signed.

In many states, you have to turn 5 before September of a given year to enroll in kindergarten. (And of course your parents might just have good reasons to want to send you at a particular time.) Anyone born in 1997 thus covered wouldn't graduate high school until 2016. Don't know if that applies in this case, of course. And there have certainly been cases where players have enrolled in college early.

RBNY made all their subs and he wasn't one of them (they had injury and red card problems, boo). Sean Davis is on though.

We need another domestic U20 defender besides Redding, getting 1st team minutes this season.

Well, better start rooting for Glad since he's the only other U20 defender in MLS!

A goal is nice but how well he defends is more important.

The amount of enthusiasm you responded with was much less than I expected. Is it a rainy day in your neck of the woods?

Just being real. I don't rate a defender based on how many goals he scores but how well he is at his position.
