    Higher Ceiling
Sargent is a poacher in the mold of Joe Max Moore... Clint Mathis.... even Chicharito. He will
Never be able to dictate games and create opportunities on his own. He will need players around him to create opportunities that he will take advantage of.

Mukwelle has the unique ability to dictate the tempo of the game no matter the players around him. He is in fact a true #10 and in reality we have never truly produced a “talent” like him. Individual skill, creativity, pace, off the ball movement and intelligence separate him and gives him the chance at an extremely high ceiling.

We need players that can dictate the game with the ball at their feet this is not Sargent which is why I believe that Mukwelle is still the better prospect.

Sargent is still important and is still a fantastic finisher but he won’t take the US to the next level.

    Players like Mukwelle will.

Seems like he didn't have problems with that as an 18 year old against Colombia.

Again, I hope he works out and does well, but we're talking about a guy who isn't even a regular starter for Villarreal's 2 team at 21. That's not a bad position to be in but he's not exactly breaking out.

Not sure if we're talking about the same player.

We are talking about the same player.... he is not the type of player that will dictate a game. We need players that will dictate games.

You basically telling that a prototypical #9 automatically has lower ceiling than an attacking mid. What isn't true. I like what I've seen from Akale, but I'd bet that Sargent will worth more because the way he is playing he is a rare commodity.

sargent is THREE years younger than Akale.

Akale is almost 22. he is no longer considered a young prospect.

your hyping of him itt sure is peculiar, this slant with sargent is another example.

    1. I’m not sold on Sargent

    2. I’m not gauranteeig Akale will be better than Sargent

    3. I’m stating that Akale’s skillset is more needed for soccer in this country than Sargents

Not in the country where Bobby Wood is a starting striker.

Honestly, across the board the USA's talent level is mediocre at best and we need upgrades in every single position. If it's Sargent or it's Akale, doesn't matter to me. Both of them have plenty of time.

I do think that Akale-type players tend to have more impact in game flow than Sargent-type players but you need to score goals to win games.

There is some kid in Germany, CP or something that is pretty close to Akale style wise. And at striker we are so desperate that the guy who keeps on telling that he is French and doesn't speak English which was good at the second division in France is our major target.

I appreciate Giggsy’s inside information. His fanboyism is a small price to pay. No need to “well, actually” him.

On this specific issue...you can’t use Spanish release clauses as anything meaningful regarding a player’s true value.

My fanboyism is a set expectation of what i think our top prospects should have in a skill set. Alll i see in the media is how good Mckennie is Adams, Durkin, etc. and it make me sick. It make me sick because that’s who we’re identifying as top prospects. Mukwelle has a skillset that could actually make a difference on a world stage and that is what we should be pushing all of our prospects towards.

I'm new to this conversation (still finding my way around BS...), but -- from what I can tell -- it sounds like you think Akale is one of our only prospects that has high end traits. Why can't other prospects have huge talent and upside also? It's like you think that Akale is some unicorn level talent and nobody else in our pool should be in the conversation.

These conversations tend to be better when the subject is soccer, not each other.

He is a unicorn within our system regarding his skillset. Christian has the same skillset I no longer view Christian as a prospect I view him as the best soccer player we have ever produced.

This is not to discount Akale's ability or potential at all, but there are more than a couple of players his age and younger who are in equivalent situations or further along. I just don't really understand how he is head and shoulders above everyone else when it seems like he is one of many really talented prospects....

So you’re saying Champions League Bundesliga teams are wrong in regards to McKennie and Adams? Schalke and recently Leipzig have a great track record of identifying and developing talent.

And I’m surprised you’re down on Durkin. Easily the best passer I’ve seen come through our ranks playing as a deep CM.

There’s also a stat where an overwhelmingly majority of Champions League players made their 1st team debuts as teenagers, like McKennie and Adams. Probably couldn’t name many CL level players recently that made their 1st team debut at 22 y/o.

This would suggest that Giggsy1986 is close with MA like really close. Friend/father/family. He has good information but also will extol MA at the expense of others, so grain of salt and all that but agreed small price to pay for links/info.

I am not saying that McKennie, Adams, and Durkin arent solid players because they definately are.

I would rate the individual skill from Gall, Yueill, Gyau, and Gedion higher tthan those mentioned before. In the modern game possession is king and you have to have elite technical ability to "keep the ball". I think a team of Pulisic, Reyna, Gedion, Akale, Yueill, Gyau, Gall etc. would actually perform at a higher level than our current group of national team players for the simple fact that they would keep the ball more effectively.

We haven't progressed technically or tactically as a country over the past 10 years and I think that's by choice..... (See how direct Tab makes the U-20's play with a team that has the skillset to play a better brand of football)

My viewpoint is all about breaking expectations and traditions of how we view prospects.

In France Adams, McKennie, etc. are a dime a dozen

Mukwelles skillset is rare no matter the country.
